Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has told the Blues he wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer due to declared interest from Barcelona
Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso has told the Blues he wants to leave Stamford Bridge this summer due to declared interest from Barcelona, according to 90min.
The 31-year-old will soon enter the final year of his contract with Chelsea and has reportedly decided to leave the team after six years.
However, he has played a more prominent position this season than he would have expected, with Ben Chilwell being the team's only natural left-back for most of the second half of the season due to his injury.
Alonso has done reasonably well, recording 4 goals and 4 assists in the league this season, but it was always clear that Chilwell would claim his spot.
As for Alonso, Barcelona's keen interest was perhaps too kind to turn down and 90min claims he has requested a casual move from Chelsea.
