Everton 0-1 Chelsea, Premier League: Post-match reaction, Rating When play resumed, the game took on a fairly familiar pattern that we have seen repeatedly on our visits to Goodison.
Chelsea had the most possession, nothing really fluid, but neither side could create much, drawing attention to the usual inept level of referees, with the home side having a huge advantage in that regard. His luck ran out in the final moments of half-time, however, when Doucouré failed to get away with another pushback inside the box, this time against Chilwell, after an even more blatant foul on Sterling had gone uncalled.
Jorginho didn't fail from the penalty spot.
The second part was more of the same, with a bit more intensity, especially from the locals.Chelsea seemed too smart and willing to waste time and slow things down... but in a game that seemed like it would never end, with over 20 minutes of added time in either half, we would actually count on the win and the Victory waiting three points! (Sterling was denied a goal which would have sealed the deal a little earlier through a more brilliant block from Mykolenko, must be added.) Cheered on by the unsurprisingly boisterous home crowd, Everton got off to a rousing start, although it was Chelsea who created the chance in the first half of the game.
However, that initial momentum was wiped out by a 10-minute stoppage due to an unfortunate injury to Everton's Ben Godfrey.
