Chelsea have confirmed that Ross Barkley has agreed to leave Chelsea and become a free agent. The 28-year-old's contract would have expired at the end of the 2022/23 season.
The midfielder joined Chelsea in January 2018 and made 100 appearances for Chelsea in all competitions, with his last competitive game coming against Watford in the final game of last season. His header earned the Blues three points on that occasion to cap a 14-game season.
Barkleyy struggled to create a sustainable opportunity with Thomas Tuchel after not leaving the club last summer.
The midfielder, crowned 33 times by England, spent the 2020/21 season on loan at Aston Villa, scoring three times in 24 Premier League games but never making a lasting impression.
