Over so many years I've been wondering why Chelsea fans and Manchester United fans are always a strong enemy to each other.

They both drive joy whenever each other are losing their matches; that's Chelsea fans will be extremely happy see Manchester United lose a match, whether it affects their progress or not they don't care for that, likewise the Man United fans as well.

But I don't really know what is the actual cause of the enmity between the two clubs. Despite the fact, they are from the same country (England) which could have made them even more united amongst themselves against other clubs, but everything turns out to be different.

However, there are so many controversies from some football fans. Some have argues that the literal cause of the hatred amongst fans may be either because Cristiano Ronaldo was once a player in Manchester United, which might have trigger the hatred to Chelsea due to excessive trophy wins he (C.Ronaldo) had brought to the club. This is because the matches that the other win is at the expense of the oda club... so Chelsea won't be happy seeing such wins to Man U

Though I kinda believe with the above postulation, because it's seems to be true since almost 80% Chelsea fans preferred Messi over Ronaldo till date...

People think that Chelsea’s fans started supporting them only when they got Roman Abramovich’s money. Yes I said it right there.

But, there’s a catch.

Fans who were born from the 90’s onwards must not be blamed for supporting the club due to its success.

It’s because when Roman Abramovich took over the club most of us were kids. We were unaware of the inner workings of a club at that age. For example, I am 20 years old now. When I was younger, around 13–14 years of age, I started supporting Chelsea. People used to tell me I supported Chelsea just because they have lots of money and a rich owner.

I only really started following football from 2010. So when I saw Chelsea play, it was the 2009–10 season, under Carlo Ancelotti where they scored loads of goals and played some really attractive football at the time and won the title. Chelsea were more likable when Ancelotti was the manager. So people like me, who were born in the late 90’s would be inclined to support Chelsea, because success attracts fans.

Another reason why United fans hate Chelsea is because they didn’t like it when they had direct competitors for titles.

And also because Chelsea sack managers at the first sign of trouble. And Manchester United fans were very proud of the fact that they liked to hire long term managers. But nowadays they are everything what they mocked their rivals for.

They sack managers whenever something is wrong, they’re a commercial giant, they talk about their history.

There is another reason, and this reason goes way back in time.

Chelsea had a reputation for hooliganism in the 1970’s and 1980’s. So that’s another reason why Chelsea fans get a lot of stick.

Other clubs who had a reputation for hooliganism at the time were Millwall, West Ham and Leeds United. That’s another origin of the Chelsea hate.

Before Abramovich took control of the club, Chelsea had Ken Bates, who was just a really bad football club owner. The club was crippled financially, and Chelsea are lucky to have an owner like Roman Abramovich, otherwise the club would have been performing much worse. Maybe they would have been a League 1 or Championship team.

Even Leeds fans know about the experience under Ken Bates, and it is excruciating and painful. When Chelsea Football Club had an owner like Ken Bates who sucked the life out of the club, it is only fitting that we finally have some good luck now under Roman Abramovich.

And finally, Roman Abramovich has proved consistently that he has both money and sense. It is one thing to have a rich owner as the owner of a football club, but it is another thing to have an owner who has good judgement while making decisions despite all the financial backing.
